Mamoru Nagasaki of Koi No Yohei's UK tour.

First stop on Mamoru Nagasaki's mini UK tour of Hybrid Koi owners was up to the North East of England to John Hellens, who had just recently won best in size 3 at the North East Koi Show.

This Koi was purchased as a 5 month old Tosai from Koi No Yohei at last years Autumn Harvest in Japan.

Mamoru was very pleased with the progress and condition of the Koi and feels as the Koi grows she will continue to fill the owners trophy cabinet!

Also swimming in the stunning main pond was a very special 70cm Nisai Sanke also purchased in Japan in the Autumn of 2008.

Although not possible to bowl this Koi the water was crystal clear so her quality was unmistakable.

The Koi had grown very well and should exceed 80cm with ease and maybe one to look out for at future Koi Shows.

After the great hospitality shown by John and Arthur it was a quick dash over to Newcastle Airport and a flight down to Gatwick.

Once arriving  'Down South' it was a short drive to our premises, for a coffee and a quick look around.
After this short pit stop we were off to visit Mick Preston who has a beautiful pond and a very special New Hybrid Nisai Sanke that resides there.

Mamoru is extremely confident that this Koi will grow to 90cm especially when shown Mick's new polytunnel Mud pond.

The indoor mud pond was of great interest and Mamoru felt that the pond would offer the same if not better growth than they
would achieve in Japan.

After Mick's it was a short drive to the Hotel and a well earned rest!

With a good nights sleep behind us Saturday would be the first sales day for the Super Hybrid Showa that Mamoru had sent specially for his visit.
These Koi were just 100 days old and amazingly developed for their age.
A queue was already forming behind Mike who was first to purchase on these fantastic Koi. He had driven up from the South Coast to meet Mamoru and learn from him and allowed Mamoru to select his Showa for him.

After many customers allowing Mamoru's expertise to help them select their Koi we were off to the pond of Trevor Farrington.

Trevor has been keeping Koi for over twenty years and has recently started collecting Hybrid Koi.

After Trevor's it was off to Lee Jeffreys 32,000 gallon pond.maoruatlees

Mamoru was very impressed with the quality and size of the Koi in the main pond where they exceed 90cm.
There are several Hybrid Koi in the pond including a Tancho that recently took 1st prize in size 3 at last months South East International Koi Show.
The Tancho was purchased last year as a nine month old Tosai along with a very special Kohaku that Mamoru remarked had become very valuable.

Another Hybrid being bowled from the 3000 gallon pond.
After the bowling of several Koi for Mamoru's appraisal it was off for dinner at the local Curry House. Mamoru has a taste for spicy food and tried everything!

After a great evening the morning was spent at our premises helping customers and checking on the Hybrid Koi in the 'Grow Out' pond.Mamoru_at_grow_out_pond

After just five hectic days it was back up to Heathrow and the long flight home.
During the time he spent with us many topics were disscused and I have been comissioned by Koi Carp Magazine  to write about them in the next few issues. I will try to mail these out to all our subscribers as soon as possible.
