If you have been to the showroom you will have seen the results as our sales ponds all use this system. In addition to this we have been trialling it in outside ponds, also with 100% success.
The new filters are the result of 18 years of Koi pond advice and construction. A couple of years ago I was looking into a way of filtering a pond with a bead style enclosed system, without the need for an electricity thirsty pump. All bead filters are directly converted sand filters and need powerful pumps to run them, (with no exceptions) and all bead filters need blowers to clean them, once again no exceptions. A bead filter sold without a blower is a pond disaster waiting to happen. So after looking at the current crop of bead filters I decided to try and find a better and more economic way to filter a pond using an enclosed style filter.
Well after 18 months of trialling, designing and Patent applications, it's here and is called the Aqua Hybrid Filter' The filter uses a Thermo plastic sand filter body like all other enclosed filters, but that is where the similarity end. The 'Aqua Hybrid Filter' uses Silicon Beads from bead filters and KNS (K1) media from another not so good filter! That's where the Hybrid name comes from, I've taken the best from both and hybridized it! The different media are manufactured to a specific buoyancy, this creates a vertically graded filter bed inside the unit, with the KNS sitting under the Beads pre-filtering them. This means that larger debris is collected by the open cell KNS Media leaving the beads to take out the fine stuff.

In addition to the patented internal media combination I have totally redesigned the water inlets and outlets. The biggest problem with current bead filters is that they are just adapted sand filters. Why do bead filters need blowers? and why does the waste water have to come out the side or top? The reason for this is simple, that's the way it is for sand filters and it is a very poor adaptation. I have redesigned all the inlets and outlets so that the waste water goes out the bottom and it is all done with a simple multi ported slide valve.
The Aqua Hybrid filter has been designed and not adapted, I have taken away all the failings of ALL current bead filters and created a totally new filtration system.
The filters run on Eco pumps (Sequence, Oase etc) have no need for a blower, have no flow reducing expensive Multi port valves and have the advantage of a viewing window so that you can see what is going on inside.
